SOME CRANES made their feeding grounds on some plowlands newly sown with wheat. For a long time the Farmer, brandishing an empty sling, chased them away by the terror he inspired; but when the birds found that the sling was only swung in the air, they ceased to take any notice of it and would not move. The Farmer, on seeing this, charged his sling with stones, and killed a great number. The remaining birds at once forsook his fields, crying to each other, "It is time for us to be off to Liliput: for this man is no longer content to scare us, but begins to show us in earnest what he can do."

Updated on September 1 at 17:29: Lumines: Puzzle & Music is out right now on iOS and Android.
Lumines: Puzzle & Music is a game people have been waiting a while for. Though most of us will have to wait a little longer at least it finally soft launched today in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

Originally released for the PlayStation Portable, Lumines: Puzzle & Music follows a similar structure on mobile as its console counterpart. Combining music and puzzle, you need swipe and tap the screen to align the Lumine blocks and match colours to clear (and match the beat of the music).

Of course, Lumines' previous success ten years ago makes it a tough act to follow. With a couple of attempts to reinvent the game having flopped, to hear that a new title would be coming to iOS and Android this summer was tinted with bitter-sweet emotions.

However fans are still more than excited about Lumines: Puzzle & Music's full release (hopefully) around September. Until then the game is currently available for $4.49 on iTunes and Google Play. Even if you don't live in one of the stated countries, follow our guide here on how to play soft launched games.

We'll update this page when more news is available.

This will run until September 10th and will see players exploring Resident Evil's iconic Raccoon Police Department.

Throughout the police station, players will encounter four different bosses from across the Resident Evil Series. This will include the likes of Tyrant, Executioner Majini, G at Stage 2 and Nemesis. Tyrant, or Mr X if you prefer, will immediately begin pursuing you as soon as you enter the building.

From there you'll be able to complete several of the puzzles that you'll know from Resi 2 such as collecting the lion, unicorn and maiden medallions. Of course, Mr X will be on your tail the entire time so you'll need to make sure you're keeping an ear listening out for him. Collecting all of the medallions will then allow you to tackle the final boss.
The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores review - "Sleep with one eye open"
Elsewhere there will be several items up for grabs.
Mario Kart's Tour's latest tour is underway now running from today until 12th February. It's called the Valentine's Tour, even though it ends two days before, though I guess that's being overly pedantic. This means there'll be a whole bunch of new singleplayer cups to race your way through to earn as many stars as you can before the tour wraps up in two weeks.

Earning those stars unlocks a whole host of new rewards for players to work their way towards unlocking, all of which are – unsurprisingly – predominately coloured pink. For players who eschew the Gold Pass, they'll be able to get themselves a Piranha Plant Parafoil, Birthday Girl kart and finally Baby Peach.

It seems that Spry Fox is doubling down on cute bears.

Having already won the world over with Alphabear (and all its not-so-cute sentences), the studio has revealed that its next game is called Bushido Bear.

According to Touch Arcade, Bushido Bear will be an "action-packed ninja-slasher" that should be heading to iOS and Android.

"Fight back against the evil monsters invading your forest! Collect unique characters and upgrade them to their fullest potential!" continues the description.

So, erm, imagine the bear-collecting of Alphabear in a game that plays more like Fruit Ninja, I guess.

There's no word on when Bushido Bear might hit up our phones and tablets yet. But as soon as we hear about it we'll let you know.

It's not November yet, which means Movember hasn't kicked off either, but why wait to raise money for charity?

That seems to be the thinking of the Movember Foundation as it launches its official Movember game on iOS and Android today.

It's a moustache-themed endless runner called Run Mo Run!. The idea is to distribute facial hair and collect coins across five worlds. Just make sure you don't get a close shave.

It's a free to play game with IAPs to unlock all the worlds, for coin doublers, and unlimited checkpoints.

But at least all the money spent inside the game goes towards men's health charities supported by the Movember Foundation.

You can download Run Mo Run! for free on the App Store and Google Play.
