Nintendo announced last night that a man with the last name Bowser is taking over as President of Nintendo of America, and news writers around the world have been celebrating at the chance to come up with their best jokes based on the news.

"This is a golden opportunity," said Jimmy Smitz, news editor of TheDailyGamer. "I mean, how perfect is this? A man named Bowser? As head of Nintendo of America? I have to call my wife, she's not going to believe this."

Google image searches for Bowser, the lizard, have increased 10000% over the last 18 hours as editors and writers scramble to find the best picture of Mario's nemesis to use in their header images, instead of using a picture of Bowser, the human being who will be taking over at NoA in April 2019.

"I found Doug Bowser humorous before it was cool," snarked Hepworth Fitzgerald, editor of HipsterGaming. "He joined Nintendo as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing back in 2015, actually. And he was at EA before then. Just saying."

Nintendo fans, Reggie has a message for all of you. Please take a look. pic.twitter.com/EAhaEl5oEJ— Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) February 21, 2019 Meanwhile, current President and COO of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, has announced that he will be retiring from the role in April 2019. He has held onto the job for 13 years, despite having a name that a) isn't funny in the given company context, and b) is really difficult to remember how it's pronounced.

Reggie is best remembered for claiming he was going to "kick ass and take names" in his role, as well as just being a generally nice, charismatic guy. He will be sorely missed by Nintendo fans.

"As I look forward to departing in both good health and good humor, this is not 'game over' for me, but instead 'leveling up' to more time with my wife, family and friends," said Fils-Aime.

We wish him all the best in his retirement, but also can't wait to repeat this story in April so we can get another cheap Bowser joke in a headline again.
Notoriety is often mistaken for fame.

After saying that an Android version might be "possible" earlier this year, developer Tundra Games has now surprised us all by launching Rapture - World Conquest on Google Play.

This is a quickfire strategy game that essentially squashes Civilization into a five minute match. We first gave it a hands-on look last year when it came to iOS.(Speaking of which, Tundra has just launched a premium version of the game on the App Store to go alongside the free to play version.)

The idea is to help your followers take over the world so that they may escape the coming apocalypse.

As you're a god, this involves instructing them to invade other populations to take over their territories. Godly powers also let you send in hurricanes and earthquakes to help out.

Simogo's next game, The Sailor's Dream, could be delayed due to the requirements needed to ship a quality-looking game on the bigger iPhone 6 resolutions.

Simon Flesser of Simogo (Year Walk, DEVICE 6) took to Twitter today to make his worries public.

"2 new resolutions that are nowhere near the old ones, and expectations of your games looking good on all devices, is killing my enthusiasm," Flesser tweeted.

This was his reaction to Apple's unveiling of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus yesterday. If you didn't catch it, the iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inch display, and a resolution of 1334 by 750, with 326 pixels per inch.

Then there's the iPhone 6 Plus, which has a 5.5 inch display, and a resolution of 1920 by 1080 with 401 pixels per inch. At that size, it's less a phone and more of a "phablet" (between a phone and a tablet).

With these bigger resolutions and display sizes, Flesser said he was also "super frustrated" that new owners of the iPhone 6 will play "blurry messes" of Simogo's previous games.

This could be fixed with an update, but Simogo won't be able to roll that out before the iPhone 6 is released on September 19th.

With all this in mind, Flesser sent out another tweet that is, presumably, concerned with the release of The Sailor's Dream. The game was originally slated for late 2014.

"We don't want to release in the holiday chaos, so today we are looking into if this means a possible delay to 2015 for us. Fun times," reads Flesser's tweet.

So, yep, this could mean that The Sailor's Dream may not come out until next year. We'll let you know if we hear of any confirmation of the game's release.
AppSpy

And comely distant sits he by her side;
EVE Echoes, CCP and NetEase's hotly-anticipated MMO, has been delayed until late 2020 due to complications arising from the ongoing coronavirus epidemic. The announcement, first spotted by Mobile Mode Gaming, arrived over on the game's official Twitter account earlier today.

EVE Echoes, if you didn't know, is an epic space-based adventure where you'll decide how exactly you want to live your life. Some may be inclined to role-play as a violent, pillaging space pirate, while others will be content to live life as a long-distance trader. The systems are in place to allow you to do as you please within its gargantuan universe.
A notice about the official release date of EVE Echoe????#eveechoes pic.twitter.com/cF4pnBYQIx— EVE Echoes (@EveEchoes) February 24, 2020I got some hands-on time with it during CCP's annual EVE Vegas event, and I came away fairly impressed. It feels incredibly authentic to its big brother, the ever-popular EVE Online, and the still-in-development build I played already displayed a great deal of polish.

Key features, including a basic tutorial, were still missing, but I got the sense that EVE Echoes could well blossom into something special for new and returning fans. It helps that it manages to retain much of EVE Online's depth within a more mobile-friendly package fit with easy-to-learn touchscreen controls.
